What’s a headshot session like?

I tailor every shoot to reflect each client’s specific needs. If you require a more traditional, corporate headshot that fits with your employer’s branding, no problem, but we can also capture more natural, casual shots so you’ll have a full range of styles, poses and expressions to choose from.

Depending on the package, our session will range from 20 minutes to 1 hour. I encourage you to bring a couple of wardrobe options so we have a nice variety of styles to work with. If you’re unsure what looks best on camera, you can bring a few options and I can help you select the best look.

You don’t like having your photo taken?

I hear this so often and can fully relate. I don’t either, but it’s the job of the photographer to make you feel comfortable and confident. You do not need to have any experience in front of the camera to take a great headshot or portrait. I have a ton of little tricks and tips that will set you at ease and more importantly, be immediately visible in the finished photos.

I shoot directly into my 27″ iMac during the shoot, so we’ll be frequently reviewing the images, so you’ll know exactly what we’re getting before leaving. This is a great way to make sure we’re getting something that perfectly represents you. 

After the shoot

Within 24 hours of your session, your photos will be made available in a secure, online gallery. You’ll be able to take your time narrowing down the images and can consult with friends, family, your employer, or me to see which ones suit you best.

With the exception of Session A, you’ll be able to download every image we take during the session, with no copyright stamp and you’ll be able to use the images however you like. Everything we shoot, you get to keep. These photos are all colour corrected and web ready.

What’s retouching?

Photoshop! Every package comes with at least one retouched photo. Your proof images mentioned above are going to look great, but we’re going to take your selections a step further. The key is to not over-do it in post-production. We strive to keep things natural, but a lot can be done in Photoshop to touch up and tweak the images so they’re looking just right. If you wake up with a blemish the morning of your shoot, it can disappear with a single brush stroke. If you have some dark circles under the eye, don’t fret, we got you.

The final retouched images will be sent to you digitally within 1 week of your selection (rush service is available).

Where can you use your headshot?

A year ago, everyone needed a Linkedin portrait, or a Twitter headshot. Now everyone needs a Zoom profile picture. You’ll receive 3 versions of every edited headshot: 1 high resolution for printing, 1 web resolution for online use and 1 LinkedIn/Social media optimized version. The photos can be easily uploaded to all platforms and if you encounter an issue at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
